The Ithaca College School of Music 2013 Heckscher Composition Prize.
The Ithaca College School of Music is pleased to announce the 2013 Heckscher International Composition Prize. This year the competition is for the best electroacoustic work, submitted by a composer of any age or nationality, for one or two instruments with electronics. Instruments must be found in conventional orchestra and band instrumentation. The electronic component must be pre-recorded and performable from CD or laptop (no “live” or interactive electronics). The work’s duration must be between 9 and 20 minutes.
The composer of the winning work will receive $2,000 and is expected to attend the award performance at Ithaca College in the spring of 2014. $500 will be provided toward travel, and accommodations and meals will be provided while in Ithaca. There is no application fee.
Submission deadline is July 1, 2013. The winning work will be announced on the Ithaca College Heckscher Competition website by October 15, 2013.
