Composer, producer, graphic artist, collaborator and founder of record label bigo & twigetti.
Jim Perkins fuses traditional compositional structures with experimental instrumental and electronic timbres.
He creates graphic art using his performance scores as the basis for the artwork, and applies systematic techniques to produce a visual encoding of the musical information.
Jim is a keen collaborator and has worked with animator and visual artist Em Cooper, and contemporary musicians Olga Stezhko and Aisha Orazbayeva. He founded the collaborative record label bigo & twigetti which openly encourages its musicians to collaborate across the label and with artists from other disciplines.
As a composer his work has been performed at The Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), The Turner Contemporary, The National Portrait Gallery and London's South Bank.
Jim's music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Radio 6, NPR, WNYC and RTE.
