Gary Maslen - Composer  
 


Having studied music at the University of Surrey, Gary went on to specialise in performance studies at Trinity College of Music and further postgraduate study at the University of Reading.

Gary is an experienced vocal soloist and has played many roles, including: Pang in Turandot (Park Opera - Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2007), Jenick in The Bartered Bride (Opera at Bearwood – Bearwood Theatre, Wokingham, 2006), Borsa in Rigoletto (Park Opera – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2006), Alfred and Gabrielle von Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus (Park Opera – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2005; Maidenhead Operatic Society – Desborough Suite, Maidenhead, 2004 & Crowthorne Musical Players – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2002), Camille de Rosilon in The Merry Widow (Park Opera – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2005; BEAOS – Bourne End, 2003 & The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, 2001), Billy Crocker in Anything Goes (The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, 2005), Strephon in Iolanthe (SavoyNet – Opera House, Buxton, 2005; nominated for best voice at the International G&S Festival), Captain Fitzbattleaxe in Utopia Limited (The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, 2005), Pluto in Orpheus in the Underworld, (The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, 2004), Prince Hilarian in Princess Ida (Putteridgebury G&S Society – Opera House, Buxton, 2004), Colonel Fairfax in The Yeomen of the Guard (EBOS – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2003), Jim Townsend in Strike Up the Band (EBOS – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2002), Marco in The Gondoliers (The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, 2002), Nanki-Poo in The Mikado (Staines G&S Society – Magna Carta Theatre, Staines, 2002; WWAOS – Walton Playhouse, Walton-on-Thames, 2000; Kuwait Little Theatre – Al Ahmadi, 1995), Ludwig in The Grand Duke (The Savoy Singers – Camberley Theatre, & the Opera House, Buxton, 2001), Aristocrat in A Masked Ball (Riverside Opera – Richmond Theatre, 2001), and Ralph Rackstraw in HMS Pinafore (University of Surrey – Guildford, 1992).

Other credits include multiple appearances in the world premier of Trafalgar (2AM Productions – Rhoda McGaw Theatre, Woking, 2001); co-writing the musical November the Fifth (LGS – Slough, 2001); co-writing the pantomime Aladdin Jones (LGS – Slough, 2002); arranging and musically directing performances of Moll Flanders (EBOS Musical Theatre – Wilde Theatre, Bracknell, 2004), Cox & Box (EBOS – Pinewood Theatre, Wokingham, 2004), Trial by Jury (University of Surrey – Guildford, 1993) and The Sorcerer (University of Surrey – Guildford, 1993).

Future projects include several concert appearances and an appearance as Normanno in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera at Bearwood in July 2007. Gary has recently completed a new orchestral work "Miscellany".
