Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1.00pm Tlatelolco Unitarian Chapel, York St Saviourgate United Kingdom http://www.latemusic.org
Tickets: £5/3 Anna Snow (soprano), Mark Hutchinson (cor anglais), Anna Marshall (trombone) and Tallulah Vigars (marimba).
Mystery remains about how the notorious massacre at Tlatelolco, Mexico, unfolded in 1968 and how many lost their lives. For its 50th anniversary, David Lancaster has created a dramatic setting of Marcela del Rio’s epic poem which re-tells the story of the bloody massacre from three different perspectives, with an English translation by Victoria Carpenter. A short presentation on the massacre and text will precede the work’s performance.
