Performing Friday, January 15th at 8:00pm, in the beautiful First Church in Cambridge (11 Garden Street,
Cambridge, MA), Cantata Singers returns to Schütz's sublime settings of So fahr ich hin from Geistliche Chormusik and Psalm 116, coupled with the music of John Harbison, a composer who by his own claim is devoted to the older master, and capped with Cantata Singers' first performance ever of the sublimely mysterious Requiem by Maurice Duruflé.

Tickets: $55/$65 Curated by Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra drummer Ali Jackson, “The Beats of NYC: A Jazz Journey Through Dance, Rhythm, and Rhyme” explores the musical culture of New York City with dancers, musicians, poets, and spoken word artists. Featuring both premiere works and reimagined interpretations of jazz classics, “The Beats of NYC” demonstrates the role of rhythm and beats in dance, voice, and contemporary music. Spearheaded by the percussive sounds of Jackson, the multi-genre program features several guest artists: modern dancer Hope Boykin of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, pianist Marc Cary, spoken word artists Latasha N. Nevada Diggs and David Jefferson Jr., guitarist/vocalist Lionel Loueke, bassist Ben Williams, and tap dancer extraordinaires Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Derick K. Grant.
