NYC B'ahia, New York, New York 53 E. 11st. New York, NY 10003 United States 215-888-2877 http://www.jhallmanmusic.com hallmanster@gmail.com
Premiere of Joseph Hallman's "tribute"- Sunday, May 6th, 2007 @ 4pm: NYC B'ahia Center (53 E.11st., Manhattan)
Philadelphia composer Joseph Hallman will be having his wind quintet "tribute" premiered at a private event in NYC @ B'ahai NYC (53. 11 St.) on Sunday, MAY 6th, 2007 @ 4 p.m. This concert presents a unique and intimate opportunity to get to know two young forces-to-be: HALLMAN and the Quintet Tabor. The concert is free, though a small donation of $10 is encouraged to displace the cost of hall, sound, etc. The concert will feature the up-and-coming Quintet Tabor! They will also play works of Steinmetz and Blumer.
Of late, Hallman has been composing myriad works for members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the formidable cellista and longtime collaborator, Alisa Weilerstein, the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, the Scottish uber-organist Kevin Bowyer, and gifts to the greats: Maestra Marin Alsop and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
For more info on Hallman visit: www.jhallmanmusic.com
Of note are the scores and mp3s he posts for free. His current projects are easily gleaned under the news/notes link on the site.
Quintet Tabor has been playing local concerts, drumming up a name and a deserved following. They are young but mighty.
The Hallman "tribute" is just that. A tribute to the warhorses of the quintet canon- the little masterpieces of Hindemith, Barber, Jolivet, and of course Francaix...
A fun and virtuosic romp for everyone!
Do come and bring your friends for a great and memorable event!
